The day started as usual. I woke up, got ready and started off to office, planning about how to get back home early as it is Friday.
After a wait of 30 minutes at the bus stop, finally got the bus I was waiting for (500-D). I got myself into a comfortable seat and put on my ear phones and shut my eyes hoping for a nap. After shuffling for a while, the song “Bheegi Bheegi si hain raatein” from the movie Gangster started playing. The feel generated by that song is awesome and so I love that song so much.
I repeatedly played the same song and got so much involved with it and thanks to my mobile, it stopped playing the music all of a sudden and it helped me realize that my destination has arrived. Usually I will have a tea with a smoke and then get into office. While I am enjoying my smoke with the horrible tea, I realized that something is missing with me and it’s my ID card. Gosh I did it again. This is the 4th time I lost my card and this time I want to go and try for that. One possibility was I might have lost it in the bus.
The bus doesn’t go too far from my place coz the next stop is the last one for the bus. So I thought of chasing it down and immediately took another bus and went in search of my ID card.
The next stop is a memorable one for me.
It is where the girl starts from every day. The first thing that crossed my mind when I got down at Hebbal (the last stop of the bus that I was chasing) was about the girl and her beautiful pair of eyes. She triggers her looks like tracer bullets, which can cruise into any male heart. No wonder even if girls admire her looks. Second look guaranteed. In fact, there is no question of second look, coz you can’t turn away from her once you see her. For one second, I thought ‘what if the girl finds my ID card and return it to me’ so that I would get a chance to talk to her.
I reached the place and found two buses (both are 500-D) are about to start back. Without any second thought I started running to the other side of the road even ignoring the heavy traffic out there. Cars, bikes, buses, what not, each and every vehicle is sounding horn, the policeman was shouting but nothing stopped me from running. Finally, I crossed the road only to find the first bus among the two was leaving. I got into the second bus and found that it was not the one I am looking for and then started running behind the other that just left. I easily lost the race and caught another bus to continue my chase. Luckily, the 500-D is at the signal and my bus is little behind that. I jumped out and started running again, but once again luck did not favor me and just before I reached the signal, the green light is on and once again I missed it. But, I was not ready to give up. I ran behind, this time putting in more energy as it seemed to be reachable and all the effort seemed to be in vain.
Only to prove that human beings still help each other, a person stopped his bike before me and helped me chasing the bus. He does not even know the problem, but still he offered help.
At last, got the bus, stopped it and jumped into it. After talking to the driver about my problem, he agreed to stop the bus for a while, so that I could search my ID card. I was happy and when I turned to start searching, I am surprised, thrilled, excited to see the girl. I completely forgot the purpose of me being there and started looking at her.
Trrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! My mobile started vibrating and brought me out of trance. My manager was calling and I had to pick up the call. I have to be at office ASAP to attend an important meeting.
I got down from the bus, thanking the driver for his help. Within seconds, the bus left the place and I could notice disappointment on the girls face as the bus moved.
This is not the first time we exchanged looks, but this might be the last time. After a gap of 15 days we saw each other and I would not get another chance to see her due to a change in my office timings.
I am very much disappointed…I have lost not just the ID card…
